質(zhì)量輕：玻璃鋼桿的密度為1.9g/cm³,約為鋼質(zhì)停車桿的三分之一（鋼抽油桿的密度為7.85 g/cm³），可以大大降低道閘閘機(jī)懸點載荷，因此可以運用功率小的電動機(jī)、較小的變速箱、較小的平衡塊、較輕便的結(jié)構(gòu)形式，從而達(dá)到節(jié)約電能、提高綜合效率的目的。
　　彈性好：玻璃鋼桿的彈性模量為（4.0-6.0）×10⁴MPa,僅為鋼質(zhì)道閘桿的四分之一左右（鋼質(zhì)道閘桿的彈性模量為2.1×10⁵MPa），這樣可以延長閘機(jī)的使用壽命，還可以增加閘機(jī)的有效沖程，增加有效開合次數(shù)。
